1. If you’re looking at Electronic Dart Boards, you will need soft tip darts. Bristle Dart Boards require steel tip darts. 2. BristleTech Dart Boards use an innovative material that allows for play with both soft tip darts and steel tip darts. 3. For electronic dart boards, consider the display. Bright red or green letters are easy to see from a distance. “X” and “O” displays for Cricket games are similar to those seen on commercial dart boards. 4. Also for electronic boards, you’ll want to consider the number of games, playing surface size, and construction material. 5. Remember that electronic dart boards typically need power from a standard 110-volt outlet. 6. For bristle dart boards, look for a moveable number ring, which will extend the life of the dart board. 7. High-end bristle dart boards have embedded, thin metal wires, known as “spider webs,” that divide the dart board into segments. These reduce bounce-outs. The thinner, the better. 8. Staple-free bullseyes on bristle dartboards also reduce bounce-outs. 9. Regulation size for a dart board is 18 inches in diameter. Regulation target area is 13.5 inches in diameter. Some electronic dart boards offer 15-inch target areas. 10. Bristle dart boards are made of African sisal fibers, which close or “self-heal” when darts are removed. |
